Video shows Noida mother defending 15-year-old after alleged car collision

A 15-year-old boy is seen beside a car with front-end damage in a video said to be from Noida, after he allegedly collided with another vehicle while driving.

In the footage, his mother says she had asked him to take the car out because their regular driver was on leave. When bystanders ask about his age and driving licence, the boy and his mother appear to acknowledge that he does not have one. She is also heard dismissing the situation with the words “chalta hai”.

The collision is said to have occurred in an unspecified part of Noida. Bystanders alleged that the boy tried to leave after the crash and stopped the car; the video does not establish the sequence independently. An account accompanying the footage said nobody was hurt.

Under Section 199A of the Motor Vehicles Act, a guardian or vehicle owner can be held liable when a juvenile drives without a valid licence, unless they can show the vehicle was used without their knowledge or consent. The provision allows imprisonment of up to three years and a fine; vehicle registration may also be suspended for 12 months. It is unclear whether a formal complaint has been filed.
