Waterlogging reported on terminal-to-parking route at Noida International Airport

Temporary waterlogging was reported on a route linking the terminal and parking area at Noida International Airport in Jewar after a spell of heavy rain.

A video circulating online showed water collected on the stretch, with airport personnel working to drain it. Airport authorities described it as temporary accumulation caused by exceptionally heavy rain, and said their teams cleared the route within 30 minutes.

The Uttar Pradesh government said flight operations and passenger movement continued smoothly during the incident, and that the route returned to normal after drainage work. Airport teams were also keeping watch on weather conditions, with passenger convenience and uninterrupted access between the terminal and parking area identified as priorities.

The episode has triggered political criticism from Samajwadi Party MP Akhilesh Yadav, who questioned the airport’s preparedness in a post on X. The greenfield airport, also known as Jewar Airport, began operations on June 15 after its inauguration on March 28.

For travellers using the airport, the immediate takeaway is that authorities have said there was no disruption to flights or passenger movement. The waterlogging, however, puts attention on drainage and access arrangements at a new airport during intense monsoon spells, particularly on the links passengers use to move between parking and the terminal.
