Yeida sets aside 500 acres near Noida airport for proposed medical hub

Yeida has earmarked 500 acres in sectors 13 and 14 near Noida International Airport for a proposed regional medical hub, envisaged as a large healthcare, education and research complex.

The authority said it is preparing a proposal for the Uttar Pradesh government. If the state backs it, the proposal will be sent to the Centre for inclusion in the national scheme announced in this year’s Union Budget, which envisages five such hubs across India with private-sector participation.

Plans for the Yamuna City site include super-specialty medical services, a medical college, medical education and research centres, an AYUSH centre, diagnostic laboratories and a medical-tourism facilitation centre. The selected land is designated for institutional use.

For residents around Jewar and the wider Yamuna Expressway corridor, the project could eventually bring major medical facilities closer to an area being developed around the airport. It remains a proposal, however: state and central approvals are still required before development can begin.
