More than 200 craftspeople from 26 states are showing river-inspired work at A Hundred Hands’ Festival of Handmade in Bengaluru until November 1.
A Hundred Hands’ River Collection brings handmade craft, textiles, accessories and art to Jayamahal Palace, with workshops and performances until November 1.
Blue fabric waves run across SewFabStories’ totes and table runners at The River Collection, A Hundred Hands’ Festival of Handmade at Jayamahal Palace.
More than 200 craftspeople from 26 Indian states are taking part in the festival. Its river theme is reflected in textiles, jewellery, paintings and other handmade work interpreting water, riverbeds and riverside flora. Risham Jewellery and Desi Soul have accessories drawing on riverbed forms and plant life.
A Hundred Hands says the festival connects makers directly with buyers. “Like crafts, rivers connect people and geographies and carry stories,” said Mala Dhawan, founder trustee of A Hundred Hands.
Fashion choreographer and stylist Prasad Bidapa will host a fashion presentation using crafts and textiles available at the stalls. Workshops include lippan work, pot painting, pottery and sand-terrarium building. Open-mic performances are planned over the weekend, including a flash jam at 11am on Sunday.
The festival is open daily from 11am to 8pm until November 1. Entry is ₹100, payable at the venue.
