Mumbai vs Haryana at BKC: Nishant Sindhu makes 105 not out

Haryana’s Nishant Sindhu made 105 not out in the first innings and was unbeaten on 22 after Mumbai enforced the follow-on in their Ranji Trophy match.

Nishant Sindhu made 105 not out before Haryana followed on against Mumbai at BKC. At stumps on day three, they trailed by 87 runs with eight wickets left.

Nishant Sindhu spent 333 minutes at the crease for an unbeaten 105 as Haryana faced Mumbai’s spin attack at the MCA ground in Bandra-Kurla Complex on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old left-hander faced 251 balls, hitting eight fours and a six. Haryana’s other batters struggled on a surface that increasingly aided spin. Mumbai enforced the follow-on, and Sindhu was unbeaten on 22 in Haryana’s second innings after another 87 minutes at the crease.

Haryana ended day three 87 runs behind Mumbai with eight wickets remaining in their second innings of the Ranji Trophy Elite Group D match. Sindhu said the wicket would deteriorate further and that he would need to bat with greater focus on the final day.

The Haryana all-rounder credited experience on turning pitches at Lahli for helping him negotiate Mumbai’s bowlers. He also said conversations with experienced cricketers, including MS Dhoni, had taught him to adapt his batting to the match situation.

Play resumes with Haryana eight wickets down in neither innings, with Sindhu unbeaten on 22 in the second innings.
