The 6,000-square-foot centre at CBSE’s Dwarka office uses 21 exhibits to trace Indian school education, from archival records to newer career pathways.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi inaugurated CBSE’s Experience Centre in Dwarka and called for schools and parents to reduce the focus on rote learning and marks.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi inaugurated CBSE’s new Experience Centre in Dwarka, calling for schools and parents to move beyond a culture centred on marks and memorisation.

“Much of a student's time goes into memorising and planning how to score marks,” Joshi said. He said pressure from parents to secure high scores can leave a child’s understanding, learning capacity and interests unexamined.

Joshi called for rote learning to give way to experiential learning, linking the approach to the National Education Policy 2020. He also said parents should reduce pressure on children to score marks.

The centre, inside CBSE’s integrated office complex, spans 6,000 square feet and has 12 zones and 21 exhibits. It traces changes in education in India, connecting older learning traditions with contemporary education and career opportunities.

One section charts CBSE’s growth through historical photographs and archival material, including records dating to 1935.
