Commercial and industrial users with at least 100 kW of sanctioned load or contracted demand can use green energy open access regardless of connection voltage.
Delhi’s power regulator has removed the 11 kV threshold for commercial and industrial consumers buying renewable power through open access.
Commercial and industrial consumers in Delhi with at least 100 kW of sanctioned load or contracted demand can now buy renewable electricity through green energy open access, regardless of their connection voltage.
The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission has amended its rules to remove the earlier 11 kV connection requirement. Open access allows eligible consumers to procure renewable power rather than rely entirely on their local distribution company.
DERC has also removed the previous link between the capacity of a captive renewable-energy project and a consumer’s sanctioned load. Businesses can size solar or wind projects for their own use based on their energy needs, including capacity above their sanctioned load.
The amendments, issued under the Electricity Act, 2003, take effect once they are published in the official gazette.
