Bengaluru B-Khata to A-Khata rebate ends with 80,412 applications

Bengaluru North City Corporation received 23,354 B-Khata to A-Khata conversion applications before the rebate window closed on August 23, corporation officials said. They reported ₹144.9 crore in revenue from the applications.

Across the four Greater Bengaluru Authority city corporations, property owners filed 80,412 applications under the scheme, officials said. The applications brought in ₹525.7 crore, or about 12% of the revised estimate of more than seven lakh eligible properties.

Bengaluru West received 22,479 applications and reported ₹131.1 crore in revenue, followed by Bengaluru South with 17,262 applications and ₹124.3 crore. Officials said the north and west corporations have more B-Khata properties.

The government reduced the conversion charge from 5% to 2% of an area’s guidance value after fewer than 14,000 applications were filed in the scheme’s first few months. About 48,000 applications had been received by August 14, followed by around 32,000 over the next nine days.

Several applications are still under review. The conversion regularises a property or site; it does not automatically regularise a building constructed on it. Corporation officials said they were not discussing another rebate window.
