BRICS arrivals may slow Delhi roads; police advise extra time for airport trips

Passengers heading to IGI Airport or railway stations have been asked to start early as BRICS delegates arrive in Delhi and traffic restrictions take effect around New Delhi.

Delhi Police said traffic may be temporarily regulated or diverted on certain roads during the movement of international dignitaries. It advised commuters to plan journeys well in advance, keep additional travel time, follow directions from traffic personnel and avoid parking on restricted roads or at unauthorised locations.

The police also asked people to use the Metro and other public transport where feasible, and to avoid unnecessary travel through regulated areas and VVIP movement routes. The route from IGI Airport to Lutyens’ Delhi is among the corridors likely to see pressure during arrivals.

The summit is scheduled for mid-September, though the dates cited for the traffic arrangements differ. Delhi residents can also track the previously announced BRICS traffic curbs before setting out.
