BRICS summit: Delhi-NCR local trains cancelled or rerouted on September 11
Northern Railway has cancelled several EMU and MEMU services and altered routes and terminals for others as Delhi prepares to host the BRICS Leaders’ Summit.
Commuters on the Palwal, Ghaziabad, New Delhi, Shakurbasti, Shamli and Bulandshahr corridors face cancellations or changed starting and terminating stations on September 11. Several long-distance trains, including Rajdhani services, will also take alternative routes, while Delhi Metro will continue to run.
Train 64015 between Palwal and Shakurbasti is among the local services cancelled on September 11 as summit-related arrangements affect rail operations around New Delhi station.
Other cancelled services include trains 64429 and 64433 between Ghaziabad and New Delhi, 64492 between New Delhi and Palwal, and 64491 between Delhi Junction and Shamli. Train 64110 for Aligarh will begin at Ghaziabad rather than New Delhi, while train 64568 for Bulandshahr will start from Delhi Shahdara and train 64567 will end there.
The New Delhi-Ranchi, Dibrugarh, Sealdah, Howrah and Bhubaneswar Rajdhanis, along with the Sampoorna Kranti Express, are scheduled to be diverted via New Delhi, Delhi Junction and Sahibabad. The Ghaziabad-Mathura EMU will run through Sahibabad, Tilak Bridge and Hazrat Nizamuddin.
The New Delhi-Hyderabad Express and Grand Trunk Express are set to leave 120 minutes late; the Paschim Express by 90 minutes and the New Delhi-Kasganj Intercity by 75 minutes. Delhi Metro services will operate, though the Metro Museum at Supreme Court station will be shut from September 11 to 13.
Delhi has already declared September 11 a public holiday ahead of the BRICS summit.
