DDA maps more than 600km of new arterial links for Delhi’s growth zones

More than 600km of new roads, each wider than 30 metres, have been identified through Delhi’s land-pooling areas, DDA vice-chairman N Sarvana Kumar said.

The proposed links are intended to extend existing arterial roads towards land-pooling and low-density areas, reaching close to NCR borders. DDA is preparing Road Network Plans under Master Plan 2047 to map current and planned roads, locate stretches needing widening, and specify new links, drainage works and land needed for infrastructure.

For residents, the plans are meant to set out the road and movement framework before redevelopment and higher-density construction begins. They must also provide for walking, cycling, universal access and direct pedestrian routes to transit stations, while connecting new green spaces to existing ones.

The arterial network may be notified within a month, while detailed plans are expected within three to four months. In land-pooling and High Density Corridor areas along UER-II, road land is to be handed over to DDA free of encumbrances. DDA’s arterial-road-first approach in land-pooling zones is part of the wider Master Plan 2047 framework.
