Delhi High Court bomb threat declared hoax after security search

A bomb threat email sent to the Delhi High Court on Friday triggered a security operation at the court complex. Officials later declared the alert a hoax.

The message, received at about 11.43 am, referred to August 15 and the Red Fort. The High Court’s Registrar General remained in contact with Delhi Police as security was stepped up across the premises.

Bomb disposal squads, dog teams and fire personnel searched the complex. They found no explosive material or suspicious object.

Delhi was already under heightened Independence Day security, with traffic restrictions in force around the Red Fort. Residents travelling through the area on Friday and Saturday should factor in the Independence Day road closures.
