Delhi Police asks NCR states to tighten border checks for BRICS Summit

Delhi Police has asked neighbouring states to intensify checks at entry points to the capital before the BRICS Summit, scheduled in New Delhi from September 11 to 13.

At an interstate coordination meeting chaired by Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar, senior officers discussed sharing advance intelligence on suspicious people and vehicles, preventing unauthorised cross-border movement, and monitoring drones and other flying objects from open areas. Officers from Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chandigarh attended, alongside Delhi Police, Intelligence Bureau and Special Branch personnel.

For residents, the immediate impact is likely to be on road travel. Police have asked neighbouring forces to regulate non-destined vehicles and keep alternative routes clear of encroachments and unauthorised parking. The commissioner directed officers to publicise restrictions widely and minimise inconvenience to the public.

Delhi Traffic Police has also briefed representatives of the Supreme Court, Delhi High Court and Patiala House Court bar associations on diversions and parking plans for lawyers, litigants and court visitors. Traffic diversions are planned from September 10.
