Delhi Police plans layered security for CJP’s September 5 India Gate protest

Delhi Police plans to deploy personnel at inter-state borders, India Gate, Police Headquarters and the approaches to both sites on September 5, when the Cockroach Janta Party has called for a protest over pending demands linked to the July demonstrations.

Police said no permission has been granted for a gathering at India Gate, PHQ or the surrounding routes. A control room, detention teams and buses are to be kept ready, with additional forces coordinated with central armed police forces. Barricades are planned on arterial and link roads at Delhi’s borders, alongside coordination with Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan to restrict Delhi-bound movement of identified groups.

Officials also plan online monitoring, CCTV surveillance and possible drone use. Police will coordinate with DMRC and other transport agencies to regulate movement near the proposed sites. App-based food and delivery services may be suspended within a five-kilometre radius; no internet shutdown has been confirmed.

CJP co-convenor Saurav Das said the group had assured police of cooperation and that its marches had been peaceful. The party has said it will press for, among other demands, withdrawal of FIRs against student protesters. Delhi Police had earlier said no permission was sought for the march.
