Delhi Traffic Police issue 346 challans as DUSU campaigning picks up

Delhi Traffic Police said it issued 346 challans and seized 10 vehicles for alleged traffic violations as campaigning increased around Delhi University ahead of the DUSU election on September 18.

Improper parking and dangerous driving were among the most frequently cited violations, police sources said. Police did not disclose the total value of fines collected.

Delhi University officials said they had flagged vehicles, including luxury cars, for breaches of election rules. Candidates cannot use luxury vehicles for campaigning, and campaign convoys are limited to five vehicles.

DU proctor Manoj Kumar said the administration was monitoring compliance with the rules. “If a candidate is found violating the prescribed election norms, their candidature can be cancelled,” he said.

The DUSU polls are scheduled for September 18, with results due the following day.
