DLF-3 residents seek workforce-housing policy as sealing and demolition drive continues

Hundreds of DLF-3 residents met at Amar Shaheed Raja Rao Tularam Park on Wednesday to press for a workforce-housing policy as sealing and demolition action continues in the locality.

Residents said Gurgaon’s Cyber City employs lakhs of people, many of whom depend on rental homes and guest accommodation in and around DLF-3. They asked the government to create a legal framework for such housing and to let property owners rectify violations by paying prescribed charges where that is feasible.

The meeting followed enforcement action in the area, including the sealing of a DLF Phase 3 guesthouse after rooms in its stilt parking area were demolished. Some residents said they had already removed non-compliant portions of their properties voluntarily.

Residents said they were willing to comply with regulations but wanted alternatives before existing accommodation is removed. Sube Singh Bohra, a social activist, said the campaign would continue until a policy was framed. The group’s next gathering is scheduled outside the deputy commissioner’s office on August 26.
