DND-Jaitpur expressway link runs on trial, but return carriageway remains shut

Motorists can now use the DND Flyway-Jaitpur carriageway, including the Ashram-Kalindi Kunj stretch, on a trial basis. The 9km link has nearly 8.5km of elevated road, but the opposite Jaitpur-DND side remains closed while rumble strips, speed breakers and other traffic-calming measures are installed.

The opening gives Faridabad, Palwal and other expressway-bound travellers another route towards Delhi. For now, many vehicles still converge around Kalindi Kunj, where peak-hour movement is estimated at 5-6 lakh vehicles. The junction’s traffic relief will depend on both sides opening.

The trial has also identified a traffic merge point near Madanpur Khadar that needs attention. NHAI said it is working with traffic police to address issues before the route opens fully; officials are also monitoring motorists driving on the wrong side on parts of the corridor.

About 50km of the 59km Delhi link between DND Flyway and the KMP Expressway has opened in phases. The trial link opened earlier this month.
