Five die in four Gurugram crashes as Sector 46 SUV driver remains untraced

A three-year-old girl playing near her Sector 46 home died after a Mahindra XEV-9e allegedly reversed into her in a service lane near Ambedkar Chowk at about 7.30pm on Tuesday.

The driver left the spot, police said. The child was taken to a private hospital, where she was declared brought dead. On her father Santosh Chaudhary’s complaint, Sector 50 police registered a case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita provisions covering death by negligence and rash driving. Police said they have identified the driver and vehicle, but no arrest had been made. GTK reported the Sector 46 case earlier.

Four other fatal crashes

On the KMP Expressway near the Pataudi Road underpass, Vishal Kumar, 29, and Krish Kumar, 27, died after their truck hit an illegally parked trailer truck at about 5.15pm on Tuesday. Their truck was carrying industrial machinery from Sururpur in Faridabad to Kharkhoda in Sonipat. Police said the trailer driver fled and both vehicles were seized.

In Sector 83, Badal Singh, 29, died after an empty private-school bus allegedly hit his scooter on the road linking to the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway at about 1.30pm Tuesday. Police said the bus ran over him after he fell; the driver fled and the bus was seized.

Lakhan Sisodiya, 31, was killed near Farrukhnagar on the KMP Expressway around 4am Tuesday after a container truck allegedly struck him and the truck he had been travelling in. Police said the other driver fled on foot.

On Dhanwapur Road on Monday night, Anita, 37, died after a pickup truck allegedly hit and dragged the scooter on which she was travelling with her husband, Hariram Chand, 40. Chand was critically injured. Commuters pulled Anita from beneath the vehicle; she was declared dead at Civil Hospital. The driver left the pickup behind, police said.

Cases have been registered at Sector 50, Farrukhnagar and Kherki Daula police stations.
