GBA directs shift of 103 Bengaluru bus stands, completion of Iblur walkway

The Greater Bengaluru Authority has directed officials to shift 103 bus stands identified as traffic bottlenecks across Bengaluru.

At the GBA executive committee meeting on Thursday, Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda also directed officials to complete the pending walkway at Iblur Junction on the Outer Ring Road. BMTC and other departments must prepare an action plan to improve first- and last-mile connectivity to public transport.

The meeting directed the BWSSB to curb water leakages and work with city corporations to fill lakes through Cauvery Stage V and sewage treatment plants. The board will run a special drive to identify rainwater-harvesting systems allowing water into the sewerage network.

Fire and Emergency Services submitted a list of 55 sites where fire-hydrant networks could be installed. The department has also been asked to assess the need for foam-based fire tenders. City corporations were directed to speed up the Suraksha 75 road-safety project.

GBA chief M. Maheswar Rao said Safe City CCTV footage could also help identify potholes and garbage, alongside the monthly civic monitoring plan.
