GDA collects ₹71 crore in development fees between April and August
Ghaziabad Development Authority says its development-fee collections rose after it streamlined cess recovery and revised charges for 2026-27.
GDA collected ₹71 crore in development fees from April to August, compared with ₹31 crore in the same period last year. Officials linked the increase to a simpler collection system and real-estate activity, while a market watcher pointed to higher state-approved rates that took effect on April 1.

The authority levies the fee on developers undertaking construction projects. A GDA official said collections were strongest in July and August after the authority simplified its cess and charge-collection process and allowed bodies other than its enforcement wing to issue no-objection certificates. The official also cited 19 Ghaziabad projects worth ₹3,989 crore registered with UP RERA between January and July.
Ashish Kumar, a real-estate watcher, said the increase also followed revised development, permit and inspection charges for 2026-27, effective from April 1. The development charge for plots up to one hectare rose from ₹10,000 to ₹10,358; for plots between one and 2.5 hectares, it rose from ₹20,000 to ₹20,716.
The additional collections add to GDA’s resources as it advances projects including the Hapur Chungi flyover and approved road works near the Hindon embankment and Chaudhary Mode.
