Gurgaon identifies 12 pollution hotspots ahead of winter

Twelve Gurgaon locations, including the Basai-Dwarka Expressway intersection, Golf Course Extension Road near DLF Arbour and Bandhwari landfill, have been mapped as pollution hotspots ahead of winter.

The locations were identified after a September 9 stakeholder meeting for a Commission for Air Quality Management exercise. They include Baba Brahmanand Chowk, the Leg 3 endpoint, Chintels Chowk in Sector 114, IFC Chowk in Sector 65, Sector 55-56 Chowk, the Radisson Hotel-NH-48 junction in Udyog Vihar, Sector 44, Udyog Vihar Phase V and Sector 57.

GMDA has been assigned the Basai-Dwarka Expressway intersection, Baba Brahmanand Chowk and Chintels Chowk. MCG will handle the Leg 3 endpoint and Bandhwari landfill. Traffic police have been assigned four locations, including the NH-48 junction and Sector 57. GMDA and traffic police will work jointly at IFC Chowk, Sector 55-56 Chowk and Golf Course Extension Road.

Measures may include dust control, action against construction-and-demolition violations, traffic management and enforcement against polluting industries. The exercise follows a seven-month winter dust-control schedule for city agencies.
