Gurgaon records 55mm rain in a week, with showers forecast till September 15

Gurgaon received 55mm of rain between September 4 and 10 — 71% above its normal weekly total of 32.2mm.

The city’s monsoon rainfall since June 1 has reached 467.4mm, marginally above the normal 452.2mm for the period. The India Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rain at isolated places in Gurgaon on September 11, 12 and 13, followed by a possibility of isolated rainfall on September 14 and 15.

No weather warning has been issued for Gurgaon in the immediate forecast period. Haryana, however, may see heavy rain at isolated places on September 14 and 15.

The wet week follows heavy rain that prompted Gurgaon’s district disaster management authority to advise against non-essential travel on September 5. Across Haryana, rainfall remained below normal: the state recorded 15.5mm against a normal 28.2mm during September 4-10. On September 10, Gurgaon’s past-24-hour rainfall map recorded no rain.
