Gurgaon: DTCP seeks Rs 12,500 demolition cost from property owners

Property owners in Gurgaon’s licensed colonies are receiving DTCP notices seeking Rs 12,500 each towards demolition costs after enforcement action over building-plan violations.

The Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) has issued more than 20 recovery notices so far. Officials said more than 200 properties where demolition action has been carried out during the campaign are expected to receive notices.

The campaign covers colonies including Sushant Lok, Ardee City and South City. DTCP first issued show-cause notices and restoration orders, then sealed or demolished structures where the violations were not removed, officials said. The department said the action concerned structures that departed from approved plans or occupied space meant for roads, parking and other common uses.

Samhita, a Sushant Lok 1 resident, supported requiring property owners found in violation to bear the cost, citing the effect of unauthorised additions on roads and parking. Abhinav Kumar, a DLF 1 resident, sought clarity on how DTCP calculated the flat Rs 12,500 amount and whether it would apply uniformly.

The recovery notices follow DTCP’s colony surveys and notices.
