Gurugram construction sites get four days to install webcams or face sealing

Construction sites larger than 500 square metres in Gurugram have been given four days to install web cameras for monitoring dust-control compliance, with sealing action possible for failures.

The Haryana State Pollution Control Board issued show-cause notices to several project representatives after the Commission for Air Quality Management’s directions. The move follows an HSPCB meeting with 170 Gurugram builders on site-level dust mitigation.

Projects must register on the HSPCB dust portal, keep registration details at the site and submit a fortnightly self-audit certifying compliance. The board has also required PM2.5 and PM10 sensors, or other particulate-monitoring equipment, at project sites.

Dust barriers, tarpaulin, green nets or scaffolding sheets must cover a site’s perimeter. Sites must use water sprinklers; cover trucks carrying sand, debris or construction and demolition waste; and wash vehicle wheels before they leave, to limit dust on public roads. Cutting and grinding construction material must take place in enclosed areas with dust controls.

The portal records 781 registered sites in Gurugram North and 622 in Gurugram South.
