Gurugram Metro Phase One 12–13% complete; girders due near Sector 40

The first U-shaped girders for Gurugram Metro’s Phase One are expected to be launched near Sector 40 next week. GMRL says the project is around 12–13% physically complete.

GMRL chairperson D. Thara and CEO Chander Shekhar Khare inspected work around Umang Bhardwaj Chowk and Hero Honda Chowk on Saturday. They asked officials to speed up the shifting of power lines, road infrastructure and other utilities. Representatives of GMRL, NHAI, GMDA, DHBVN, HVPNL and other agencies attended the inspection and a subsequent review meeting.

Phase One will connect Millennium City Centre with Sector 9 metro station near Basai, with a spur towards the Dwarka Expressway. Pier caps were installed near Sector 40 earlier this month, following the first pier-cap installation.

GMRL is targeting August 2028 for the start of operations. The schedule depends on private land transfer, the shifting of a power substation and gas pipelines, and the removal of structures between Subhash Chowk and Basai Chowk.
