Gurugram property owners seek pause on DLF demolition drive

More than 500 property owners and landowners gathered at Gurugram’s mini-secretariat on Wednesday, seeking a pause in the demolition and sealing drive across DLF phases 1 to 5.

The meeting, organised by residents’ committees from 12 Sarhaul-DLF transit-oriented development areas, asked the government to form a committee and conduct a survey before further action. Participants also sought clear rules for PGs, co-living spaces, one-room-kitchen units, room rentals and accommodation for working women, citing demand from workers and labourers.

Chaudhary Jitender Yadav of the 12 Sirhaul DLF TOD Ekta Sangarsh Samiti said the group would intensify its agitation if no solution emerged. Residents also sought a review of mixed-land-use, additional FAR and TOD norms, alongside a separate policy for established village abadi areas.

The Department of Town and Country Planning says the action follows Punjab and Haryana High Court directions. A court-directed survey identified more than 5,000 rule-violating properties across the five DLF phases. DTCP has acted against almost 100 properties in DLF Phase 3; DLF Phase 2 is next. The dispute follows a similar DLF-3 residents’ demand for a workforce-housing policy.
