Gurugram Durga Puja pandals plan Bengal-themed displays and access measures

From Sector 15 to Sector 85, Durga Puja committees have planned Bengali art, cultural programmes, health camps and accessibility measures.

Gurugram Durga Puja committees have planned Bengal-themed displays, cultural programmes, health camps and accessibility measures at several pandals.

At Bangiya Parishad’s Sector 56 pandal, visitors will pass mud-plastered houses, paddy-straw roofs and grain-storage structures before reaching the mandap. The committee has planned a wheelchair-friendly route from the car drop-off point, nearby parking, an electric vehicle for visitors needing help, and separate medical and senior-citizen rooms.

“We are recreating grain-storage structures, mud-plastered houses and paddy-straw roofs to familiarise our children with our roots,” said Partha Dey of Bangiya Parishad. Volunteers received accessibility training on October 14, and the committee said assistance would be available through the day.

Purbapalli Durgabari Samiti’s 38th puja at the Sector 15 Part II community centre will use hand-painted alpona motifs and include an eye check-up camp on October 17. Its cultural programme includes Agomoni songs, plays, dance and a concert by Pranay Majumdar and Kritika Chakraborty on October 20.

Sector 27’s committee is marking 150 years of Vande Mataram with displays on the song’s history. DLF Phase 1’s 35th-year celebration will feature a terracotta idol and a photo wall of past members. Sector 10A has planned a blood-donation camp and health check-ups alongside its lotus-themed pandal.
