Gurugram’s monsoon gridlock returns to Golf Course Road, Sohna Road and IFFCO Chowk

A Gurugram resident who moved to the city for work in 2025 said a usual 15-minute trip from office to his PG stretched to nearly three hours during rain, after his two-wheeler was stranded outside the building.

Heavy downpours have again left people wading through flooded streets and vehicles inching through waterlogged stretches across the city. Golf Course Road, the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway near Cyber Hub, IFFCO Chowk and Sohna Road were among the locations affected. At times, offices have shifted staff to work from home and schools have suspended physical classes during severe inundation.

MG Devasahayam, former chief administrator of the Haryana Urban Development Authority, said Gurugram was developed as a high-rise, high-density real-estate city despite terrain he described as more suitable for low-rise, low-density construction. He also cited the lack of natural water sources and an adequate drainage network.

The disruption follows waterlogging and damaged-road complaints in Sector 10, where residents have sought drainage and road repairs. For commuters, the immediate calculation remains simpler: whether a short trip home can be completed before another spell of rain fills the roads.
