Delhi: India-Afghanistan T20I set for Arun Jaitley Stadium on September 13

The first T20I between India and Afghanistan will be played at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday, September 13, the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) said.

The match falls on the second day of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi, scheduled for September 12 and 13. Delhi Traffic Police had requested a postponement, citing security arrangements, traffic restrictions and the movement of dignitaries during the summit.

After a meeting with police, the DDCA said it had received assurances of the support and arrangements needed to hold the game. “No postponement,” the association said.

The September 13 fixture opens a three-match T20I series at Arun Jaitley Stadium. The remaining matches are scheduled for September 15 and 17.
