LG asks Delhi to become a national model by 2047

Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu hoisted the Tricolour at Lok Niwas on Independence Day and set out a broad challenge for Delhi: become a national model of excellence, safety and civic pride by 2047.

Sandhu asked residents to contribute to the Viksit Bharat@2047 goal and said Delhi’s agenda should include cleaning the Yamuna, reducing air pollution, expanding housing and affordable healthcare, improving the safety of women and children, managing traffic and restoring the city’s heritage.

He placed these priorities alongside seven areas of national strength: manufacturing; agriculture and food processing; technology and innovation; Gati Shakti; Raksha Shakti; the green and blue economy; and India’s soft power. The task, he said, requires seamless coordination between the Union and Delhi governments, municipal bodies, neighbouring states and citizens.

Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta also urged residents to hoist the Tricolour at home and make the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign a public celebration. The day followed the Prime Minister’s 2047 development target set out from the Red Fort.
