LG sets August-end deadline for Delhi’s pending MPD deregulation measures

Lieutenant Governor TS Sandhu has given Delhi departments until the end of August to notify pending deregulation measures under the Master Plan of Delhi, saying residents should see fewer forms, fewer physical visits and quicker approvals.

Of 23 Phase-I priority areas, 13 have been implemented and four were declared inapplicable after new labour codes were enacted. Officials said the remaining six reforms have been substantially addressed through the Master Plan of Delhi-2047.

The measures cover flexible zoning norms, minimum road-width requirements for rural industries, building rules for industrial and commercial plots, empanelled third parties in building approvals, and inspections for low- and medium-risk buildings. Sandhu said departments must move beyond inter-departmental correspondence and complete notifications promptly.

The Transport-Oriented Development policy and regulations, notified on April 6, are already being implemented. The deadline follows continuing work on MPD 2047 measures, including mixed-use notifications pending for 351 Delhi roads.
