MCG acts against 300 encroachments, clears 2 km of Gurugram roads

About 2,000 metres of road space were cleared as Municipal Corporation of Gurugram teams acted against 300 encroachments across the city on August 10, 12, 13 and 17.

MCG said the drive followed Supreme Court directions and covered permanent, semi-permanent and temporary structures. It also included one sealing action. Of the 300 cases, 262 involved government land, while five concerned public roads and one involved a pond.

August 12 saw the highest number of actions, with teams taking up 223 cases. These included 200 semi-permanent and 13 temporary structures. On August 13, teams acted in seven cases and cleared about 250 metres of road space.

On August 17, teams worked in Sadar Bazaar, New Colony, Madanpuri Market Road, Feroz Gandhi Colony, the Hero Honda Chowk–Khandsa Mandi stretch, Shyam Chowk in Dhankot and Badshahpur's 33-foot-wide phirni. The work followed a month-long campaign to clear encroachments on public land and roads.

MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya said the special drive would continue against unauthorised construction and encroachments on government land, footpaths, roads and other public spaces.
