A first-semester student at Mount Carmel University in Bengaluru has been barred from writing the remaining examination papers after an invigilator found smart glasses during an exam on Tuesday.
The invigilator said the glasses appeared larger than ordinary eyewear. She said she approached the student after about an hour and a half and asked about the glasses. After trying them on and hearing a sound, she handed them to university authorities.
University authorities said the student can attempt the missed papers in the third semester. They said the student’s parents have been informed.
Prof Lekha George, vice-chancellor in-charge, said the university follows strict examination rules. She said the device could be difficult for an ordinary person to identify. The seized glasses were estimated to cost about Rs 34,000.
