
Mumbadevi Temple, Sri Sankara Mattham in Matunga and Jivdani Devi Temple in Virar have announced rituals and crowd-management arrangements for Navratri beginning October 11.
At Mumbadevi Temple in south Mumbai, Navratri celebrations will continue until Dussehra on October 21, with daily opening hours from 5.30am to 10pm. Temples in Matunga and Virar have also set out their festival programmes and security plans for devotees.
Mumbadevi Temple in south Mumbai will open at 5.30am each day during Navratri, beginning with Mangala Aarti, and close at 10pm. Its nine-day celebrations are scheduled to run until Dussehra on October 21.
Ghatasthapana is planned between 9am and 9.20am on October 11. Twenty-five pujaris will conduct continuous Shree Durga Saptashati Paath during the festival. The Navmi Chandi Havan is scheduled for October 20 from 5.30am, followed by Purnahuti between 11am and 11.30am.
The temple has arranged outdoor mandaps, drinking water, doctors and ambulances. More than 100 Mumbadevi Bhakt Mandal volunteers will manage queues, with priority access planned for senior citizens, pregnant women and parents carrying infants. Devotees have been asked not to bring large bags.
Sri Sankara Mattham in Matunga will hold Sri Sarada Navaratri Mahotsavam from October 11 to 19, ending with Vidyarambham and Annadanam on October 20. Jivdani Devi Temple in Virar plans to deploy more than 200 CCTV cameras and over 100 police personnel each day during Navratotsav.
