Noida, Greater Noida drive seizes 47 buses, issues 76 challans

Transport officials inspected buses at key Noida and Greater Noida locations from October 9 to 11, seizing 47 and issuing challans to 76 others.

A three-day drive in Noida and Greater Noida seized 47 buses and issued challans to 76 others over documents, fitness and safety checks.

Forty-seven buses were seized and 76 others received challans during a three-day transport enforcement drive across Noida and Greater Noida.

Operation Kavach checks ran from October 9 to 11 at Mahamaya Flyover, Sector 62, Zero Point, Dadri and Badalpur. Assistant Regional Transport Officer Udit Narayan Pandey said the campaign targeted buses operating without required documents or valid fitness clearance.

Officials arranged alternative buses for passengers whose journeys were affected by the checks. The seized vehicles will not be released simply after penalties are paid, Pandey said. Each bus must undergo a detailed technical inspection before it can return to operation.

The inspections will assess compliance with AIS-119, the safety standard for sleeper coaches covering berth design, emergency exits and other features. A bus that does not meet the prescribed standards could have its registration and fitness certificate suspended.
