PG operator arrested after Satya Niketan building collapse; partner being traced

Sudhanshu, one of the partners running the Hostel Daze paying-guest accommodation in Satya Niketan, has been arrested as police investigate Sunday’s building collapse, which killed seven people.

The building, with a ground floor and four upper floors, collapsed around 1pm; police were alerted at 1.34pm. It housed students and other residents. The property had been leased for the PG operation in August 2025, police sources said. Sudhanshu’s business partner, Shubham Tyagi, is being traced.

Investigators are scrutinising the lease agreement and repair work at the premises. The basement had reportedly been under repair for eight to 10 days after rainwater and waste accumulated there, while work was also under way on a ground-floor extension allegedly intended for commercial use. Labour contractor Sanoj has been apprehended and is being brought from Kasganj for questioning.

Police are also examining whether extra floors, allegedly built for rental income, put pressure on the older structure. The collapse followed the rescue operation at the Satya Niketan PG.
