Pipeline damaged near Baani Square disrupts water supply across Sohna Road, SPR sectors

A 700mm water pipeline near Baani Square in Sector 50 was damaged during excavation on private land on Saturday, disrupting supply along Sohna Road and the Southern Peripheral Road.

The line draws water from Sector 51 and serves sectors 46, 48, 49, 50, 52, 56 and 57, as well as areas from Sector 58 to 76. GMDA officials said rain had loosened and eroded soil around the excavation, washing away support beneath the pipeline. A notice has been issued to the property owner over alleged negligence.

Repair teams were working at the site, with supply expected to return by late Saturday evening if the work was completed. Resident welfare associations asked households to conserve water; Malibu RWA Federation chairman Vijay Shiv Nath said residents had managed the morning supply with stored water.

The fault follows the Basai pipeline leak that disrupted supply in other parts of Gurugram earlier this week. Some residents in DLF Phases 1, 2 and 4 were still reporting low pressure and shortages after that repair was completed.
