PWD plans patch repairs on damaged Ring Road and NH-8 stretches

Damaged portions of Ring Road and NH-8 are set for patch repairs, with the Public Works Department planning to remove worn asphalt and lay fresh bituminous concrete on affected sections.

The work will focus on potholes, worn-out surfaces and localised damage caused by heavy traffic, weathering, water seepage and regular wear. Rather than placing a new layer over weakened road, PWD plans to use mechanical cold milling to remove the distressed surface before laying and compacting a 40-50mm bituminous-concrete layer.

For motorists, the plan concerns two routes that rarely have quiet hours: Ring Road is one of Delhi’s principal arterial corridors, while NH-8 links the city with Gurgaon and the airport. The department is taking up the repairs as part of its annual maintenance programme, before the damage worsens.

Drivers are already navigating roadworks affecting Ring Road and Outer Ring Road traffic. PWD has not specified the stretches or work schedule for this repair programme.
