Rao Inderjit Singh meets Haryana CM as Gurgaon waterlogging persists

Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh met the Haryana Chief Minister as heavy rain again left parts of Gurgaon waterlogged, snarling traffic and forcing schools to close.

Singh said unchecked urban growth and illegal construction have obstructed the natural drainage routes that carry rainwater away. He also said illegal colonies cannot now be removed, even as their spread has complicated the city’s drainage problem.

The latest spell of rain has exposed other monsoon-season failures: roads have collapsed in places and sewer leaks have surfaced. For residents, the immediate effect has been slower commutes and disrupted school days; the larger task is restoring drainage capacity in a city built rapidly over its natural water channels.

Gurgaon has faced repeated flooding on major roads this monsoon, including after recent rain that slowed traffic across the city. Singh’s meeting with the Chief Minister places the issue before the state government as the wet season continues.
