Satyendar Jain’s bail sharpens AAP-BJP clash over Delhi Jal Board case

Satyendar Jain’s bail in the Delhi Jal Board corruption case has given AAP fresh ground to allege that central investigative agencies were used against its leaders.

AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal questioned what the Prime Minister had gained from Jain’s case, while Delhi unit leader Saurabh Bharadwaj said the arrest was intended to disrupt Jain’s work in Punjab, where he is AAP’s co-in-charge. The party has previously alleged political pressure in Jain’s arrest.

The BJP rejected that reading. Delhi BJP chief Harsh Malhotra said bail was a normal part of the legal process, not a clean chit, and that the probe was continuing.

The dispute now stretches beyond Delhi, with AAP framing Jain’s case as part of a wider campaign against the party ahead of Punjab’s 2027 election. Jain had also linked his arrest to Punjab’s polls in August, as reported in his earlier comments.
