School buses stranded for hours as Gurgaon rain floods routes

Children who had left school around 12.30pm were still inside stranded buses and vans hours later as heavy rain flooded roads across Gurgaon, parents said.

The worst disruption was reported around Subhash Chowk, where police blocked the road because of waterlogging. Parents said some buses broke down and one remained at the same spot for more than two hours, while families could not drive in to collect their children.

Waterlogging also slowed or halted traffic on Golf Course Road, Sohna Road, South City-1, DLF Phase 3, Ardee City, Sector 45, Sector 52A, MG Road, Sikanderpur, Rail Vihar and the Dwarka-Gurgaon route. The stretch outside DLF Magnolias was among the inundated roads.

Parents said they were concerned about children waiting in wet vehicles, including whether they had food, access to washrooms and protection from the rain. The school transport delays unfolded as waterlogging slowed traffic on major Gurgaon roads.
