Two power cuts leave Sector 99 societies without electricity for about 14 hours

Around 1,500 families in four Sector 99 societies along the Dwarka Expressway went without electricity twice in 24 hours, as a roadside pole was knocked down and an underground feeder later developed a fault.

The first cut began around midnight on Tuesday after an unidentified vehicle hit a pole on Garhi-Basai Road, damaging low-tension overhead lines. Supply returned around 10am on Wednesday. A second outage began at 4pm after an underground 11kV DHBVN feeder faulted near Vienna Greens; supply was restored by 8.30pm.

Pareena Laxmi, Pareena Coban, Skywhales Vienna Greens and Satya Merano Greens were affected. Resident Santosh Singh said non-functional streetlights, poorly built roads and hard-to-see poles contributed to the crash. Another resident, Sandeep Walia, said workers were arranged on Wednesday morning after an overnight attempt to replace the pole stalled.

DHBVN said finding faults in underground feeders can delay repairs, and that supply is restored in phases to avoid overloading. The utility plans to register an FIR over the pole damage. The disruption follows an August power outage along the Dwarka Expressway.
