
A three-day Bengaluru festival of khadi, natural dyes and handmade crafts is scheduled to begin on October 2, with 23 brands and craft workshops.
Bengaluru’s Naturally Dyed Handmade Festival will feature handspun clothing, heritage weaves, home décor and workshops in eco-printing, batik and more.
Khadi textiles coloured with flowers, minerals, bark and seeds are scheduled to feature at Bengaluru’s Naturally Dyed Handmade Festival, which opens on Gandhi Jayanti, October 2.
The India Handmade Collective, which is organising the three-day event, said 23 brands will sell handspun and handwoven garments, block prints, eco-prints, heritage weaves, home décor and gift boxes made from natural materials. Chandra Jain and musician-filmmaker Vasu Dixit are scheduled to inaugurate the festival.
Gandhigram Khadi VIPC Trust will display handwoven Kalamkari saris and fabrics, eco-printed khadi, and naturally dyed towels, stoles and yardage. Its eco-printing workshop, scheduled for October 2 from 3pm to 5pm, will cover direct leaf and flower printing on fabric; participants can take home their work.
Other participants include Porgai, with embroidered clothing and home textiles; Tinctoria, which makes eco-printed apparel; Porunai’s coconut-shell craft; and TerraBarn, a Bengaluru terracotta jewellery studio. The programme also includes workshops in batik, Lambadi embroidery, tapestry weaving and hand papermaking.
