MMRDA begins segment erection for 13.9km Thane-Ghatkopar freeway link
The proposed six-lane link from Anand Nagar in Thane to Chheda Nagar in Ghatkopar has entered the precast-segment erection stage over the Eastern Express Highway.
MMRDA has begun erecting precast segments for its 13.9km elevated link from Thane to Ghatkopar, including a 90-tonne segment over the EEH.
A 90-tonne precast segment has been launched over the Eastern Express Highway as MMRDA begins erecting sections of the 13.9km Elevated Eastern Freeway Extension.
The planned six-lane corridor will run from Anand Nagar in Thane to Chheda Nagar in Ghatkopar, creating an elevated connection on the Thane-Mumbai route. MMRDA is using a mechanised gantry to place the segments, a method intended to limit disruption to traffic below.
MMRDA projects that the completed corridor will cut the Thane-Mumbai journey to about 20 to 25 minutes and reduce congestion on the Eastern Express Highway.
