Panvel sustainability festival at Yusuf Meherally Centre from October 2

Sustainable fashion, street plays and walks through a forested campus will share space at Panvel’s Yusuf Meherally Centre from October 2 to 4 during the Festival of Alternatives.

The three-day programme includes talks by people working in sustainability and grassroots sectors, short-film screenings, a sustainable marketplace and local food. Visitors can also join nature walks through the centre’s campus.

Students will take part in inter-collegiate competitions including a sustainable fashion show, group dance, street play, short film, rap, quiz and debate. The activities focus on environmental and social issues.

The Yusuf Meherally Centre has worked with rural communities for more than six decades through social and agro-based projects in different parts of India.

The event is open to the public. Organisers have invited educational institutions and residents’ groups in Panvel and Navi Mumbai to encourage young people to attend and participate.
