Central Railway to check original IDs on reserved journeys in October

A group travelling on one reservation could face ticketing action if the prescribed original identity proof is not produced during Central Railway’s October checking drive.

The drive runs from October 1 to 31 and will cover passengers using concessional fares, specified reservation quotas and railway passes. In a booking with multiple passengers, at least one traveller must carry the required original ID. If that proof is missing, Central Railway says the entire group can be treated as travelling without a valid ticket and face action under applicable rules.

Ticket-checking staff will also verify eligibility documents for concessions and specified quotas. Passengers using E-Pass or PTO facilities must carry the prescribed original documents and ensure their pass has been exchanged for the required travel authority before beginning their journey.

The checks will include fake and misused tickets, particularly unreserved tickets. Staff will use the TTE App where needed to verify ticket authenticity.
