100-metre bullet train steel bridge launched over NH-3 in Bhiwandi

A 100-metre steel bridge has been launched over NH-3 at Dive-Anjur village in Bhiwandi, the National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd said. The agency described it as the first completed steel bridge in Maharashtra for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train corridor.

The structure weighs 1,405 metric tonnes and is 14 metres high and 14 metres wide, according to the corporation. It was fabricated at a workshop in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, then transported roughly 1,300 km to Bhiwandi on trailers before being assembled and launched.

Steel bridges are planned where the high-speed rail alignment crosses highways, expressways, major rivers and railway lines, particularly where longer spans are required. The corridor has 28 such bridges planned, of which 16 have been completed, the corporation said.
