Red Fort Ramleela troupe performs at Russian House ahead of Dussehra

More than 50 actors brought 12 episodes of the Ramayana to the stage at Russian House in New Delhi on Friday evening, in a special Ramleela performance ahead of Dussehra.

The two-and-a-half-hour production was presented by the Shri Dharmic Leela Committee, which has staged its annual Ramleela at the Red Fort since 1924. It was the committee’s first performance at Russian House and followed more than 10 days of preparation.

Dhiraj Dhar Gupta, the committee’s general secretary, thanked the Russian Embassy and the Russian ambassador to India for providing the venue. Elena Remizova, director and head of Rossotrudnichestvo’s representative office at Russian House, said she hoped the Ramayana production could be taken to Moscow next year.
