MCG deploys five electric litter-picking vehicles at Gurugram markets

The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has deployed five electric litter-picking vehicles at Sadar Bazar, Sheetla Mata Bazaar and Sector 7 market for a month-long sanitation pilot.

MCG has spent about ₹1 crore on the machines, which are designed to suction dust, plastic waste, small litter packets and other debris from roads and public areas. Each vehicle has a collection capacity of about 600-650 litres and can run for nearly eight hours on a single battery charge.

The vehicles will operate daily during the pilot. MCG will monitor their performance for a month before deciding whether to deploy them at other markets.

Executive engineer Sundar Sheoran said the review will assess how effectively the machines clean market roads.
