University of Liverpool opens Bengaluru campus with 300 students

The University of Liverpool has inaugurated its Bengaluru campus, where 300 students have joined six undergraduate and two postgraduate programmes.

University of Liverpool says 300 students have enrolled at its Bengaluru campus after about 20,000 applications for eight programmes.

Three hundred students have enrolled at the newly inaugurated University of Liverpool campus in Bengaluru, chosen from about 20,000 applicants.

The first cohort is spread across six undergraduate courses — including computer science, biomedical sciences, business management, accounting and finance, and game design — and master’s programmes in accounting and finance and computer science. Selection considered Class 12 marks and English-language proficiency.

Vice-Chancellor Tim Jones said Bengaluru was chosen for its entrepreneurial and technology-driven character, as well as the university’s existing relationships with institutions including IISc and NIMHANS. He said the Bengaluru courses will follow the same curriculum, examination pattern and assessment methods as the university’s UK campus.

The university has also signed memorandums of understanding with companies including Wipro, Unilever, Axis Bank and AstraZeneca, with the aim of building employment opportunities for graduates. It intends to expand its programme list in response to student demand and academic growth.
